Dromore Ladies Firsts travelled to Omagh this week in hope to continue the current winning streak.

The team fought hard against a strong Omagh side and came home with a 3-3 tie.

Omagh scored an early goal in the first half but Dromore where not disheartened. Amy Forsythe and Nicola Wilson played tactically down the right with their efforts rewarded by a long corner and short corner to follow.

The ball came smoothly to the top of the circle and was taken by Rachel Morrow with a hard on-target strike, Hannah Russell then made a touch deflection to secure the goal past the keeper.

Omagh came back fighting but Dromore defence and midfield ensured that the ball stayed clear of their goal with Chelsey Whan stepping up to clear threatening Omagh attacks. Dromore scored their second goal on a counter attack with the forwards playing the ball around the Omagh defence with precise passing.

Emma Wilson recked the top of the circle and passed behind the keeper to Hannah Russell on the penalty spot, where she then placed the ball into the back of the net.

In the second half, Omagh came out fighting and scored their second goal from a corner. Dromore continued to make great runs on the counter attack with Allana Wilson and Anna Martin hassling the Omagh defence for every ball.

Omagh scored their third goal on the break slipping past the Dromore defence.

Now being 3-2 down, Dromore quickly stepped up their game, Allana Wilson made a great run from down the right wing and won Dromore their second short corner. Tara Malcolmson struck the ball, her first shot being saved by an Omagh defender. However, Dromore kept the ball in the circle and it again met Tara’s stick. She made the correct decision to push the ball onto her reverse side and with a perfectly lifted reverse shot she secured the team’s third goal.

Dromore held most of the play for the duration of the second half and worked hard to make sure that Omagh could not again take the lead.

Player of the match was given to Allana Wilson for her speed, skill and perseverance through the match.

The team would like to thank Jonny McBride for stepping into umpire and Dromore Dental for their continued sponsorship and support.
