Poundland colleagues’ hair-raising £7,000 effort for Age NI
Managers and colleagues on Friday shaved their heads in support of the leading charity for older people in Northern Ireland. After weeks of bad hair days, the opportunity to have a close shave to help a good cause came as a welcome relief.
By midday Monday, the total raised was already £7,332, smashing the target of £5,000.

Hide AdKieran McAfee, store manager at Coleraine, who came up with the idea, said: “Everyone’s been sporting some unusual hair styles and we thought why not get rid of the lockdown locks and raise some money in the process.
“Age NI provides amazing help for our elderly parents and grandparents all year round. It’s been especially important during this difficult time when vulnerable people have been isolated from friends and family.
“The response from Poundland colleagues and customers has been fantastic.”
The Coleraine colleagues who took part were Kieran, Daniel Carlin, Nikki Leighton and Paul Party.
