POLICE in Londonderry are appealing for information about an assault on a 14-year-old which occurred on Wednesday, May 28 at 9pm.

He was cycling across the Peace Bridge and near Ebrington he passed a group of four people. One of the two males ran after him, grabbed him by his left shoulder and attempted to jump on the stunt pegs at the rear of the bike.

The victim told the male his collar bone had been recently broken and tried to cycle off again, but the male again attempted to jump on the back of the bike. The male backed off at this stage and as the teenager was about to leave, a female approached, grabbed his broken shoulder and punched him on the arm.

The teenager believes there was a sectarian hate motive.
