Pair charged with murder of Geordie Gilmore in Carrickfergus

Two men have been charged with the murder of loyalist Geordie Gilmore in Carrickfergus on Monday, March 13.

The men, aged 28 and 35, are due to appear at Belfast Magistrates Court on Saturday (March 18) charged with murder, two counts of attempted murder and possession of a firearm or ammunition with intent to endanger life or property.

The attack took place in Pinewood Avenue around 2.15pm. Up to five shots are reported to have been fired at the victim.

The murder is being linked to a long-running loyalist paramilitary feud in the area.
