Anti-vax campaigners described as ‘threat to us all’ after vaccination centre incident

Anti-vax campaigners who gathered at a vaccination centre in County Armagh have been accused of spreading misinformation.

Alliance Councillor Eóin Tennyson condemned the group of anti-vaccine protesters who gathered outside the South Lake Leisure Centre in Craigavon, where vaccines are being administered.

Campaigners are reported to have approached attendees of the clinic with anti-vaccine literature.

Cllr Tennyson said, “I utterly condemn the small group of individuals who gathered outside South Lake Leisure Centre on Sunday (January 17).

“They did so against public health regulations. The misinformation and conspiracy theories they spout are a threat to all of us, have no basis in fact and only undermine our collective effort in the fight against Covid-19.

“I welcome confirmation that a police investigation is now underway.”

A PSNI spokesperson said: “Police have received a report in relation to an incident at a vaccination clinic in the Craigavon area on Sunday, 17 January and the matter is currently under investigation.”
