Two drivers have been slapped with fines of £550 after a police and HMRC operation on a Magherafelt roadside showed they had red diesel in their vehicles.

PSNI Magherafelt said: “Magherafelt NPT officers took part in a joint op with HMRC.

“This resulted in two detections, both resulting in £550 fines.”

Assistant Chief Constable of the PSNI, Stephen Martin, also highlighted the co-operation between the two agencies.

He said on Twitter: “#PSNI working with @HMRCgovuk in Magherafelt, resulting in two fines of £550 for using red diesel on public roads.”
