Ronnie Armour, addressing the Stormont Justice Committee, explained: “Maintaining our estate is also challenging. There is a need for capital investment, not least in the North West, where Derry/Londonderry courthouse is 200 years old this year.
“Across the estate we are currently primarily focused on essential maintenance only.

Hide Ad“As the Committee will be aware, following a consultation process, the previous Justice Minister announced his decision to close six courthouses as part of a programme to rationalise the court estate.
“That decision is now the subject of judicial review proceedings, and consequently, Minister Sugden has agreed that no courts will close pending the outcome of those proceedings.”
