Double triumph for Portstewart Ju Jitsu Club
At 16 years old Ben was the youngest member attempting the first dan (shodan) grading on Saturday but he worked very hard during the tough and rigorous grading and that effort has paid off for him now that is for sure.
Ben, a sixth year pupil at Dominican College, is the first member of the Portstewart Club to be awarded a black belt and at the adult level it is an even more impressive feat to achieve.

Hide AdPortstewart Ju Jitsu Club was founded in September 2009 and since joining the club four years ago Ben has rarely missed a training session.
The day was a huge success with members from Ju Jitsu clubs from all over Northern Ireland participating throughout the grading.
Double celebrations were in order for the Portstewart club as not only did the club achieve its first black belt member but club coach, Sensei William Watson, achieved the highly respectable fifth dan (godan) at the same grading, becoming a master in the art.
Speaking after the formal presentations, Master William Watson expressed his pride in Ben’s achievements commenting on the commitment and effort shown by him to reach these very high standards.
