Mervyn still shooting at 90 at Ballyvally Archery Club

Ballyvally Archery Club has long been known as a family club with lots of juniors.

However, they now have a growing number of older members with over 40 people in the 50+ sections. Archery is a sport which requires co-ordination rather than great strength and, therefore, cubs as young as four and as old as 90 can participate.

Young Mervyn Bicker, a member of the club, is proving just that as he celebrated his 90th birthday. Members of the club recognized the event by providing the customary cake but had trouble with the 90 candles and decided on nine, one for each decade.

Congratulations

Ballyvally Archery Club would like to congratulate Rebecca Lennon and Dean Hamilton, who both came in second place in the recent Banbridge Sports awards. Both have had a very good year shooting at international level in China, Croatia among other locations during the past year.

JUNIORS

About 150 juniors are starting to shoot for their achievement badges this Autumn. The scheme is one of national standards and each junior has specific scores to reach in order to achieve their badge. The badges will be awarded as usual at Club Presentation night in the Belmont Hotel in January 2015.

BEGINNERS SESSIONS

Beginners are very welcome to come and see what happens in an archery club, especially at this time of the year. The club shoots every Wednesday and Thursday and has eight sessions available.
