Hillsborough Social got off to a good start when the opening games in Section A of the Roy Kennedy Fuels Lisburn Bowling League were played.

They were comfortable winners by 17 shots at home to Killaney and took all seven points, while champions, Ballinderry, slipped up, just a little, by dropping half-a-point in a 24 shots win away to St Mark’s.

Richard McCaw shared the spoils with Eddie Marsden.

The other promoted team, Annahilt Parish, gained 1.5 points at home to Soldierstown.

Section B

St Joseph’s squeeze home by a shot at Pond Park

A ten shots win for Hugh Lundy was largely responsible for giving St Joseph’s a one shot win and five points away to Pond Park in Section B of the Roy Kennedy Fuels Lisburn Indoor Bowling League.

Lundy’s win enabled the visitors to lead by 11 shots at the break, but John Green came back with a seven shots success and Pond Park hit back only to fail by the narrowest of margins.

Broomhedge took all seven points at home to Lambeg Parish.
