A large election poster that was partially blocking a road in Carrickfergus has been removed, police have said.

The poster, which featured UUP leader Mike Nesbitt, was photographed on social media lying across one lane of the carriageway at St Brides Street, directly under the railway bridge.

According to UUP Assembly candidate Roy Beggs, it appeared that a lorry carrying the poster attempted to pass underneath the bridge, which has a height restriction.

The poster was then knocked onto the road.

The obstruction was cleared at 1:30pm.

A two-car RTC on Prince Andrew Way this morning has also been cleared, the spokesperson added.
